Bio
Singer and songwriter
Art and creativity have played an important role in Frank Huffman’s life. At an early age, he had the ability of seeing things in a different way while pouring his creativity onto a canvas or sketch pad. Growing up in a small farm town in Missouri did not offer the career opportunities that he was searching for, so at the age of 19, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, wanting to serve his country and see the world. After serving six years active duty, he decided he needed a break and wanted to get back to his country roots, so he moved back to his hometown and enlisted in the Army National Guard. He wanted to maintain his connection with the military because of the strong camaraderie and teamwork he experienced serving in the military.
During a summer night in 1994, he woke up from a dead sleep and just started writing down things that came to him. He felt that God was trying to tell him something! He thinks that God had changed plans for his life and that was his wake up call. Words on a sheet of paper that night were the beginning of a new artistic journey that led to songwriting.
He honed his singer-songwriting skills during the 90s while making connections with other local songwriters, and almost made the big move to Nashville, Tennessee, to begin another journey. His military service and career was very important to him and he did not want to jeopardize it, so he decided to not move instead.
Even though he did not make the big move to Nashville, he never gave up on his aspirations as a singer-songwriter and has written countless songs since that life changing night in 1994.
His warm southern voice and songs are attributed to his country heritage. His musical influences include country legends like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and George Strait, among others. He is also influenced by classic rock music from Journey, The Eagles, among others. He also enjoys blues music.
And after many years of songwriting, he has decided to start another chapter of his life as an indie artist. His debut country single “A Cowboy Belongs To The Country” sets the tone for his connection to life in the country. His latest single, "By Myself" is out now.
